The Burren and Hobbs Rehabilitation launch partnership to bring specialist neurological rehabilitation and nursing care under one roof in Bristol

The Burren and Hobbs Partnership Launch

Open day welcomes referrers, clinicians, and commissioners to see the new integrated model first-hand

The Burren care home has formally launched its partnership with Hobbs Rehabilitation, bringing specialist neurological rehabilitation and high-quality nursing care together in a single, coordinated environment. The partnership was celebrated at an open day at the home, attended by local case managers, referrers, clinicians, and local partners.

The partnership responds to a long-standing gap in provision. People recovering from complex neurological injury and illness often need far more than rehabilitation alone, including nursing care, behavioural support, assistance with daily living, and medication management. Historically, services have tended to offer either rehabilitation or care, and few environments in the Bristol area have successfully combined both.

By combining Hobbs Rehabilitation's specialist expertise with The Burren's nursing and clinical support, the partnership creates a pathway designed around the individual rather than the system. Residents benefit from:

  • Specialist, goal-led rehabilitation programmes delivered in an on-site therapy gym
  • Twenty-four-hour nursing care and clinical oversight
  • A multidisciplinary team spanning neurological physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical neuropsychology, and rehabilitation consultancy
  • Structured care planning and longer-term recovery planning
  • A homely, purpose-built community with individual ensuite bedrooms

The partnership is particularly relevant for people with acquired and traumatic brain injuries, stroke-related disabilities, neuroprogressive conditions, complex physical disabilities, amputations requiring ongoing rehabilitation, and other long-term neurological conditions.

Paul Hayes, Cornerstone CEO, said: "We are very proud to be working in partnership with Hobbs Rehabilitation to bring this important new service to the Bristol area.  We have a shared ethos that services should be designed around the potential outcomes for the patient, rather than organisational boundaries."

Hobbs Rehabilitation, established over twenty years ago, provides patient-centred neurological and amputee rehabilitation, including access to the latest neurotechnology.

Helen Hobbs, Founder, Hobbs Rehabilitation, said: "We are excited to launch this new service at The Burren, which brings together specialist accommodation, nursing and rehabilitation expertise to support people with amputation, brain injury and spinal cord injury under one roof. Our shared patient-centred values will drive the best possible outcomes for those we support."
